Modern Square Dancing
Not your grandpa’s stomping & romping, not the program you learned in Elementary School. But coordinated moves set to modern music from present day pop to all-time standards like John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Road”, the Bee Gee’s “Stayin Alive”, Donna Summer’s “She Works Hard for the Money”, as well as songs by the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Today’s square dancing is hipper than what most people remember, and more therapeutic (mind and body) than you might think. Some say it’s friendship set to music, and with all it’s moving, twisting, and turning, square dancing provides more than the daily dose of heart and bone healthy physical activity and remembering all the calls keeps the mind sharp.
So, if you need a fun way to keep mind & body in shape for golf, gardening, hiking, and biking, or are tired of doing the same old thing night after night, why not try Square dancing? The Blue Agates offer classes in Mid-September and January each year.
For lesson information, please call Carel or Mike at 509-674-5744, or Sally or Dennis at 509-925-1601.
